Better Hope Mandir on the East Coast of Demerara, Guyana celebrated Indian Arrival on afternoon of Friday May 5 with a cultural variety concert, poems, speeches, and skits recreating life on the plantations during indentureship. The Mandir’s volunteers created ship and a lojie among other constructs reminding the public the life of indentured immigrants (girmityas) and their early descendants.
