I feel that Sanathan Dharma offers one of the most balanced and uplifting approaches to seeing and embracing life with all its glorious multifaceted dimensions. As Hindus, we see divinity as being indivisible from the elemental fabric of life.
The pulse of creation and the life forces of nature, which nurture and sustain us do not discriminate in the sharing of their benevolence, but human insatiable greed and unpredictable compulsions have become our worst existential nightmare. Some have chosen to play Gods with the lethal powers that are now at their disposal. Striking with reckless abandon, they unleash the fury of death without remorse or compassion for the innocent victims of their aggression.
We may have progressed technologically with endless material possessions but devoid of empathy and respect for the sanctity of life. Since 911, we have seen that our proclivity for terror, violence and disregard for human life have reached new heights.
Sanathan Dharma is life-affirming. We see how the Krishna consciousness movement dances and sings joyfully. Let us hope that more people -like the phenomena in Africa – where ordinary people are able to see the inclusivity of Sanathan Dharma as a remedy for peaceful coexistence. Hopefully, the next generation will wake up and see the magnificence of their glorious ancient culture and unparalleled traditions, promoting resourcefulness, harmony and progress for humanity.
