Yesterday, I was graciously visited by an esteemed son of the soil, Mr. Deoraj Seunarine.
Mr. Seunarine, better known as ‘Dr. Abracadabra’, is a household name, who has impacted the lives of many generations as a magician, ventriloquist, singer, musician and an educator. As his 92nd birthday soon approaches, Mr. Seunarine visited my office, to present me with a biography of his life written by D.H. Singh, entitled “Abracadabra, Stage Entertainer & Magician Extraordinaire”.
The book takes us on a journey through his childhood years, early education, career as a teacher, rise to stardom, magical moments and the various awards and certificates he received, while doing what he loves most, magic.
In 2018, he was presented with a Civic Award on the 30th Anniversary of the City of San Fernando for outstanding contribution in the field of entertainment. In 2010, the San Fernando City Corporation presented him with a Bronze Shield, for his contribution to the development of the city.
