The leadership of APNU (PNC) is spreading a dangerous rumor on the ground among its supporters that the American CIA is backing Granger. APNU has been telling supporters not to pay heed to what the US Embassy in Guyana, the State Department, Secretary Mike Pompeo, and other US officials are publicly saying that APNU must heed the outcome of the democratic vote. (According to observers and all opposition parties, the PPP has won the elections by some 18,000 votes).
APNU is misleading supporters in spreading the above false rumor. Let it be stated factually and categorically.  The US is on the side of democracy and law and order and the law-abiding people of Guyana. The US and the ICA strongly support strict compliance with outcome of elections. The US Secretary Mike Pompeo reiterated that point on Friday March 20 after the Secretary General of OAS was re-elected.
The US has made it clear that a government sworn in from fraudulent count of votes (SOPs) in Guyana will face serious consequences. APNU and AFC will not get away with electoral fraud. The American CIA is on the side of democracy and the opposition democratic forces in Guyana. The CIA is executing the expressed wishes of the US government, in particular the State Department and the US Embassy.

The US and the CIA have made it clear that a democratic outcome of elections must be respected regardless of which party wins. The preliminary count of votes reveal PPP has won the elections, according to officials from the Embassies of US, Canada, UK, Europe, and India and by all international and domestic observers. APNU must do the honorable thing and concede defeat and allow Irfaan Ali to be sworn in as President. Failing that, serious consequences will follow.
