‘Physician heal thyself ’ (Luke 4:23) should serve as a guideline for Dr. Ramsammy in his vitriolic blasting of the AFC. In his article in Guyana Times he declares that Ramjattan will go on his knees and beg Granger not to recall the AFC MPs. Well, as the old adage goes; those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others. The aspiring, free enterprise embracing president in 1992 somersaulted into the Marxist PPP even before the ink had dried on the ballots; now he has morphed into the PPP’s chief apple polisher and was first in line to defend Su-gate and Irfan-gate.
Ramsammy’s multitude of talents range far and wide. The aftermath from his sojourn as Min. of Health is sickly as the nation’s hospitals are atrociously ill-equipped with a proliferation of poor health care and maternity deaths- both mother and child. This self-righteous doctor, who never even performed any surgery, was part and parcel of the sole sourcing of drugs (a phenomenon he castigated when the Coalition gov’t did the same) while the Specialty Hospital precipated massive theft of state funds by the contractor Surendra. How comical that this very minister sought overseas medical treatment whilst presiding over the Health sector!
Now the AFC does not need me to come to its aid as the Party has an array of bright lawyers, however, the behavior of High Commissioner to India, Charrandass Persaud, seems to have eluded him. This would be the correct time to put his spy equipment to use. Dr. Ramsammy’s portfolio as Agriculture minister witnessed a decline in fish exports to North America as many export requirements were not complied with. Now this American citizen / wannabe president serves as advisor (about what?) to the President.
Finally, the question whether the AFC MP’s will retain their Parliamentary status is purely academic. But lo and behold … If the URP had won the 1992 Elections Guyana would have been plunged into a constitutional catastrophe with an illegitimate President !
