Indo-Caribbean Christine Perumal has been appointed as a Support Magistrate in Kings County ( Brooklyn) Family Court in New York. She will start in this new position on March 31, 2023. Support Magistrates are special judicial officers appointed by the Office of Court Administration and preside over child support and paternity proceedings in the Family Courts in all five New York City counties.
Christine is a member of the Lawyers Committee Against Domestic Violence in New York, the Queens County Women’s Bar Association, the Queens County Bar Association, the South Asian Bar Association of New York and the South Asian Indo-Caribbean Bar Association in Queens.
Christine serves in various non profit charitable organizations including as an advisory Board Member for Jahajee Sisters, a non-profit organization committed to developing Indian leaders who organize against gender-based oppression and create paths for self-determination.
She is married to Andrew Perumal, attorney-at-law and has 2 sons: Adhavan and Kovalan Perumal.
