Well known Guyanese research scholar, writer, and psephologist Dr. Vishnu Bisram will present a paper in person on “India’s Soft Power” at a two day global conference on the Indian Diaspora to be held in New Delhi on October 24 and 25. Scholars from around the globe and India will speak at the international conference to be held at the prestigious India International Center on Max Mueller Marg. Dr. Bisram is well known in India for his work on the Indian diaspora and for his guest lectures at many Indian universities. A few other Caribbean nationals, including Ambassadors or High Commissioners, are also expected to grace the diaspora conference and or speak virtually.
Dr. Bisram is an accomplished academic who has written countless articles in the mass media an in books and journals. He is a specialist on India Affairs and the Indian Diaspora and on the Caribbean and its diasporas. He co-organized conferences and seminars in Fiji, India, Mauritius, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad, and USA. He also presented papers on socio-politico issues and on diasporas at many international conferences and seminars around the globe including London, Durban, Amsterdam, among other cities. Dr Bisram will speak on “Leveraging India’s Soft Power in the Caribbean”.
The Conference is sponsored and organized by the research center Miranda House of Delhi University and Organization for Diaspora Initiatives (ODI) led by Professor Ajay Dubey of International Relations Department Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
