Kumbh is not a matter of simple faith, there is science attached to this faith which strengthens the faith. Maha Kumbh is also a Kumbh of meeting of cultures.
There are three types of Kumbh: One Ardh Kumbh which takes place every 6 years, second Kumbh which takes place every 12 years and third Maha Kumbh which takes place every 144 years.
Kumbh is held at a total of 4 places, Ujjain, Nashik, Haridwar and Prayagraj. Drop of the nectar that came out from the Churning of the Ocean (Samudra Manthan) had fallen in the rivers of these four places, hence these four places became Kumbh places and taking a dip in the rivers of these places has significance.
According to the estimated figures, there are about four and a half crore religious places on the whole earth, out of which there are three and a half crore churches, about 50 lakh mosques, while if Sanatan Dharma places, Temples, Gurudwaras, Monasteries, Deeh Sthan, Mausoleums of Saints etc. are seen then they would be around 50 lakhs. But among all the religious places, the largest number of devotees are seen in the Maha Kumbh of Prayagraj which was around 10 crore on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya on 29 January 2025 and more than 8 crore people took Holy Dip of faith and took the Nectar Bath (Amrit Snaan). This number has not been seen anywhere in the world, this is also a world record. This figure was more than the total population of many countries of the world.
How does the time of Kumbh take place? Then we will see that the largest planet in the universe is Jupiter, which completes its cycle in 12 years, hence Kumbh takes place in 12 years. Jupiter is considered the Guru of the Gods. Jupiter has the highest gravity, that is why its attraction towards Jupiter is called Gravitational Force (Gurutvakarshan Bal).
According to mythological evidence, the Triangle (Trikod) area is called Sangam, the triangle of Jhusi, Arail and Prayag is the confluence place. Take a dip in it anywhere and will get the results of taking Sangam Bath (Sangam Snaan).
Ganga ji is of white complexion and Yamuna ji is of dark complexion and at their meeting place a mixture of normal and dark colors is seen. Saraswati ji meets in this confluence in invisible form, about which it is said that some scientists have seen the Saraswati river from space. Just as only two veins are visible in the three veins of the mother’s braid, the third one disappears, similarly in Triveni also only two streams are visible, Saraswati ji remains invisible.
River Ganga is considered a symbol of sacred spirituality. Yamuna is considered a symbol of love and devotion. Saraswati is considered a symbol of knowledge. Therefore, when knowledge is combined with spirituality, love and devotion, salvation is achieved.
If we believe the saints and mahatmas, then Gods, Goddesses, Yakshas etc. also come to take bath in the subtle body in Kumbh. The quality of water doubles in Kumbh. The reason for this is said that by taking bath of saints, mahatmas, goddesses, gods etc. the water gets virtuous and spiritual powers and with the positivity of the people, the quality of water gets doubled by the dip of faith, while crores of people take dip on the day of Amrit Snan.
