Dear Editor,
Keith Rowley, in an apology for his and others in his government’s insensitive almost attacking insults against the population said the people appear on edge and irritated.
Really Keith?
If you had to sit in senseless traffic for hours Keith while ministers with blue lights and sirens ran you off the road to go about their business, wouldn’t you? Driving on potholed roads while ministers wasted scarce public funds on needless projects, how would you if you were a taxpayer, feel? If you were dutifully paying WASA for months of dry taps, wouldn’t you be upset? If you had to tolerate the hell that is our public health while paying the bills for ministers who use public funds for elective and vanity procedures in first world institutions, wouldn’t you be angry Keith? If your children were forced to suffer through in failed schools while others had the benefit of prestige education, wouldn’t you be on edge? As someone who publicly stated that when you work you want your money, if you were one of the hundreds of thousands living through the cost of living in 2022 on 2013 salaries, and the cold and unfeeling government that let inflation run away was offering you a 4% increase for work you already did, wouldn’t you be a tad irritated? If the government that was paid to make law enforcement honest, justice functional, public service efficient, and protect us from gouging businesses and rapacious banks chose instead to ignore the plight and cries of the people and get in bed with those businesses and banks, what did you expect Keith? One minister actually had the gaul to say she has never heard a single complaint about our bus service. The only way that could be possible is if she were deaf. When the government long on promises and short on delivery left the people scrambling to, if not make ends meet then at least try to keep them in waving distance of each other, how should they feel while watching members of Parliament enjoy million dollar tax breaks?
Of all the insensitive things Keith Rowley has said, his apology for being insensitive has to be the most insensitive and out of touch of all.
