Trinidad’s political axis is tilting by the hour into becoming an African country
with nothing but silence emanating from the majority Indian race. Indian political
leaders and the educated class continue to refuse addressing race issues.
Indo Trinidadians are still stuck in addressing the colonial
past and are foolishly ignoring present day political issues that impact Indians.
The African race is choreographing their dance with the design to make Trinidad an Island of the center of African culture.
The hypocrisy in attempting to Africanize Trinidad is done by using identity politics. Playing the race card and renaming and removing Trinidad’s historical icons is not acceptable nor is it justified.
The PNM has already removed Christopher Columbus’s statue and substituted Trinidad’s Coat of Arms [ 3 Ships ] with the steelpan which has no educational historical narrative or relevance in a multicultural society.. These attempts which ignore all the races are bold and blatant steps to Africanize Trinidad.
The steelpan was invented by Africans, but it does not represent the various races whose blood, sweat and tears helped to build Trinidad.
Wouldn’t it be nice if the Coat of Arms had sugar, coffee and cocoa
plants that mirror the suffering of ALL the people of Trinidad?
Now that the PNM African Government is using names and political
symbols to dope their supporters, what will be their next step? Will it demand the removal of the British parliamentary and judicial system? Will it ban the speaking of English and moreover change the name Trinidad? I kinda like the name Columbus gave us.
And what about the slave religion and slave name- when will that be
changed? Shouldn’t they be making this a priority? I am glad that I am a Hindu and will not be affected by some of these changes.
The pure hypocrisy in removing and renaming aspects of Trinidad
history is just proving that the country is a FALLEN state. Trinidad has an exceedingly high GDP of crime and corruption and this is the lack of good government by the PNM. All this must be changed rather than changing historical symbols.
Indians let’s keep calling Trinidad / Cheeneedad.
