The Indian Diaspora Council International (IDC) has formally proposed to the Government of Trinidad & Tobago (T&T) that a suitably engraved postage stamp be issued to honor the life and legacy of the late BASDEO PANDAY for his outstanding, life-long service to the country as a public servant, including the highly esteemed position of Prime Minister (1995 – 2001).
In a January 4, 2024 letter addressed to T&T Prime Minister Keith Rowley and T&T President Christine Kangaloo, IDC president Ashook Ramsaran outlined the many pioneering contributions of late BASDEO PANDAY who helped transform the nation and solidified its position and respect regionally and internationally. The IDC proposal also highlighted the respected stature of the late BASDEO PANDAY that gained him international recognition which benefited T&T enormously.
IDC proposes that it would be “a fitting tribute to late BASDEO PANDAY” for the new postage stamp to be issued on 25 May 2024 which would be his 91st birthday.
