My dear brothers and sisters of Couva North and the wider national community,
It is with a heart filled with gratitude, humility, and unshaken loyalty that I extend my sincerest thanks to the Political Leader of the United National Congress and our next Prime Minister, the Honourable Kamla Persad-Bissessar, for the opportunity she gave me to serve the people of this great nation.
Being selected in 2020 to represent Couva North in the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago was one of the greatest honours of my life. I have given the last five years of my life in service to the people of Couva North, with passion, purpose, and pride. I have walked alongside you, listened to your concerns, fought for your rights, and advocated tirelessly on your behalf. I will forever be grateful for the love, encouragement, and faith that you, the constituents of Couva North, placed in me.
While it is, naturally, disappointing not to have been selected to contest the seat again, I fully accept and respect the decision of the leadership of our great party. The United National Congress has always stood for democracy, transparency, and the collective good. I remain fully committed to the UNC, and I will continue to serve in whatever way I can to ensure that our party is victorious in the upcoming general election.
I take this opportunity to congratulate our Deputy Political Leader, Jearlean John, on her selection as the UNC’s candidate for Couva North. She is a formidable leader with a deep understanding of the challenges facing our people, and I have every confidence that she will continue to build on the foundation we have laid together in this constituency. I offer her my full support and look forward to working alongside her to ensure a resounding UNC victory in Couva North and across Trinidad and Tobago.
We must not forget that when the UNC wins, everybody wins. A victory for the United National Congress is a victory for every citizen who dreams of a safer, fairer, more prosperous nation. It is a victory for families, farmers, fishermen, for workers, for young people, for the elderly, for entrepreneurs and for everyone who believes that better is not only possible, but within our reach.
To our Political Leader, Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, thank you. Thank you for your unwavering guidance, your strength, your courage, and your deep and abiding love for our nation. Your vision continues to inspire me and countless others who believe in justice, equity, opportunity, and progress for all.
To the national community, let me say this, my journey of service has not ended. I will continue to work in the vineyards of the UNC, shoulder to shoulder with the people, driven by the same purpose that led me into public life, to build a better, fairer, and more just Trinidad and Tobago.
And to the people of Couva North, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. It has been my deepest honour to serve you. I will always be your brother, your neighbour, your advocate, and your friend.
May God bless you all, and may God continue to bless our beloved Trinidad and Tobago.
With love and loyalty,
Ravi Ratiram
