Also, poet Haimnauth Ramkirat
Last Saturday’s event, August 3, 2024, organized by Dr Dhanpaul Narine. Dr Dhanpaul said the meeting honored two distinguished persons Dr. Keith Proctor and Ms. Davina Singh. It was a packed library with persons from various countries. Councilwoman Lyn Shulman and Sherry Algredo were marvelous in doing the presentations to these deserved artists.
Poet Haimnauth Ramkirat described it as an illuminating, engaging, and enjoyable event. Two individuals were honored. According to Ramoutar, the best part was that children were able to showcase their talent. A superb platform for them to develop that confidence that is so important in public speaking, communication, and verbal expression. We need, and badly so, such events to counter the loud soca, chutney music and the rum culture so pervasive in the Little Guyana community. We need to arrest the decline in decency and civility and morality. In the absence of Poetry, Literature, Drama, Music and Dance and the appreciation of the Arts, there will quickly follow the weakening of the human spirit and an easy acceptance of wrong doing and vulgarity.
