THIS POEM IS DEDICATED TO THE EULOGIZING OF ANTHONY RAMLALL
WHO TRAGICALLY PASSED AWAY AT 24 YEARS.
NOT SO SOON! NOT SO SOON!
Death is inescapable for all mortals, no doubt.
But, dear God, not so soon! not so soon!
The journey has just begun, at only 24 years old.
This flower has not yet even fully bloomed
Merely a youth in the prime of his purposeful life
But ahead of his time and also his peers
Snatched so suddenly with hopes and dreams, unfilled
The trauma and agony is a life sentence of pain and grief
Leaving a wound that can never be healed
Grief-stricken, many broken hearts, weeps unconsolable
Praying that the rainbow of life will dispel this ominous darkness
And the handsome prince will again enchant us in his grooms’ regalia
Bidding farewell to a child is every parents worst ordeal
But time, prayer and faith in God, do bring reprieve…eventually
He came, did his duty to his parents, community and also God’s bidding
Longing for life, we all take birth for a very special reason
The joyful bliss of every parent to hear that first cry
And to see their progeny blossomed with pride and elation
Anthony’s life was not in vain
For, he was indeed a very blessed child
He was a game-changer and knew what he wanted
With principles and values intact, he was the ideal son and husband
Made his parents, wife and lineage proud…in every way
Ambitious and resourceful, he led the way with courage and kindness to all
The Sindoor still wet on his young bride’s forehead
And a new life -his unborn child- to remind the world of who he was
A defining legacy that will immortalize his memory, likeness and goodness
A true champion who’s short life is the testimony of outstanding decency and goodwill.
But non-the-less, he was taken away from those who adored him, all too soon, all too soon.
