Elected District Leader, Hon. Albert Baldeo, who is also the President of the Richmond Hill Democratic Club and the largest South Asian and Caribbean Labor Group, ASAAL (Richmond Hill), strongly condemns his non-invite to, and the disinvite of, other prominent Guyanese community leaders, including the Guyana Democracy Project (GDP), to the meeting held today Wednesday 4:30pm at the Guyanese owned Starlite Pavilion, 101 Ave and 130 Street in Richmond Hill, Queens, presumably to engage New York State Attorney Hon. General Letitia James about various issues concerning Guyana.
The lack of an invitation, and the dis-invitation, came from and through a fellow District Democratic Leader, Mr. Richard David, an Indo-Guyanese American, who was not elected to represent Richmond Hill/Little Guyana, but Springfield Gardens, part of South Ozone Park, Brookville, Rosedale, NY. Mr. Baldeo wishes to inform the public that he was not invited to the meeting, for reasons best known to Mr. David, strongly denounces such breaches of protocol, and disrespect shown to him and other community leaders and stakeholders, and asks everyone to call out and condemn such despicable and self-serving individuals with selfish agendas.
He recalls that Mr. David, in collaboration with some similarly misguided and recurring cronies, tried to manipulate a similar slight at the Little Guyana Street naming ceremony, which was rebuffed by Congressman Meeks and City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, who overrode him, and rightly called upon Mr. Baldeo to speak as the 1st elected District Leader of Little Guyana. Mr. Baldeo strongly condemns such divisive, belittling, myopic and puerile behavior, and asks everyone who cares about democracy and good government to both educate and condemn those perfidious, misguided, selfish and manipulative hypocrites in our community who promote division over unity, hate over love, marginalization over progress, and self-interests over community growth.
Mr. Baldeo assures everyone that he will continue to fight for, and protect democracy in Guyana, Queens and the wider USA, and for the issues that matter for our community and people, at the highest levels of City, State and Federal Government, working in conjunction with everyone who shares similar goals, and asks everyone to keep the faith, and the activism, right up to the Secretary of State and the US President, as he has previously done. “The preservation of democracy in Guyana will not be compromised. Beware of sell-outs, carpet baggers and strangers who infiltrate our community pretending to care about us, including the fake Diwali holiday advocates like Jenifer Rajkumar, who is still to deliver on her promise and declaration making Diwali a holiday,” Baldeo warned.
He has contacted both AM Jenifer Rajkumar and Mr. David about these issues, especially about the focus and achievements of the meeting today, and will accordingly update this press release further, if and when they respond.
Hon. Albert Baldeo, District Leader, President of ASAAL, RICHMOND HILL
